Why We Pair Fogstar with Victron

The battery market has a problem: a lot of systems are simply overpriced. Fogstar has shaken that up with genuinely affordable lithium batteries that do not cut corners on the cells inside. It is one of the fastest-growing names in home storage, and it is easy to see why.

Fogstar batteries do not include their own inverter, so we pair them with a Victron inverter/charger. Victron is one of the most respected names in the business, trusted for years in off-grid and marine setups where reliability is everything. Together you get low-cost, high-capacity storage backed by a properly engineered inverter.

5 Reasons to Choose Fogstar & Victron

1. Outstanding value. Fogstar is one of the most affordable lithium batteries on the market for its capacity, so your money buys more usable storage.

2. Proper cells. Fogstar uses genuine LiFePO4 cells, the safe, long-life battery chemistry, not a budget shortcut.

3. A proven inverter. Victron inverter/chargers have a long track record in demanding off-grid and marine use, so the brains of the system are as reliable as they come.

4. Big, expandable capacity. Fogstar batteries stack, so you can build a large storage bank now or add to it later.

5. Proper monitoring. The Victron VRM portal lets you and us keep an eye on performance and spot anything unusual early.

See everything, from anywhere

Victron’s VRM online portal and app let you watch your solar, battery and home usage in real time from your phone. Pair the system with a smart tariff and it charges when electricity is cheapest, then powers your home through the expensive evening peak. We set this up and walk you through it at handover.

Is a Fogstar and Victron system right for you?

We fit several battery brands, and we recommend the Fogstar and Victron combination for homeowners who want maximum usable storage for their budget. It suits you well if:

You want a lot of capacity without paying premium-brand prices
You are happy with a two-part system, a battery plus an inverter, rather than a single all-in-one unit
You want room to expand your storage later

If an all-in-one system suits you better, we will say so and point you to one.

Can I add Fogstar and Victron to my existing solar panels?

Yes. Around 40% of the battery systems we fit in North Wales are retrofits to existing solar. The Victron inverter/charger sits alongside your current setup and manages the Fogstar battery, storing the excess energy your panels already produce for use in the evening. We confirm the best way to connect it at the survey.

Fogstar and Victron FAQs

Why pair Fogstar with Victron?
Fogstar makes excellent-value lithium batteries but does not make an inverter, so the battery needs one to work in your home. Victron inverter/chargers are among the most reliable available, which makes them a natural partner for Fogstar’s low-cost storage.

Is Fogstar a good battery?
Yes. Fogstar uses proper LiFePO4 cells and has quickly become one of the most popular value battery brands in the UK. It gives you a lot of usable capacity for the money.

Can I add this to my existing solar panels?
Yes. We can retrofit a Fogstar and Victron system to most existing solar arrays, or supply it alongside new panels.

How big can it go?
Fogstar batteries stack, so we can build anything from a single 5kWh unit up to a large storage bank. We recommend the right size at your free survey.

What warranty do I get?
Fogstar batteries carry an 8 to 10 year warranty depending on the model, and Victron inverters are known for their long service life. We register your warranties on your behalf.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lee and his team Josh and Joe did 2 installations for me. 2 x9.5kw GivEnergy battery system to go with my existing solar array. Then a month later a new 3.3kw solar system. From start to finish all three provided a great service. The combined 2 systems are working far better than I ever expected. I can highly reccomend HSB.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. HSB Renewables were amazing. They sorted me out for Solar Panels, a Battery Storage system (GivEnergy) and spoke to me like a human being. They even went the extra mile and gave me some advice combining it all in with Home Assistant.

Absolute top quality.

Thank you Lee and Team.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I asked Lee to install an additional battery at my property, in truth I don’t know why I bothered because I’ve been let down by him before (I guess his promised prices were the Draw!). He eventually managed to attend my property and after a quick survey said he would be in touch. I wasn’t holding my breath (because of his past antics in letting me down), and it’s just as well I didn’t hold my breath because this was back in October (it’s now March) and guess what! He’s not been in touch!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had our 4kw PV system installed 12 years ago and decided that it was time to consider a battery storage system, we contacted two accredited companies and HSB Renewable Energy Company gave an immediate response with a written quote and a home survey.
We wanted to locate the battery outside our house under a canopy and we didn’t want to lose our FIT payment. Following the survey and Lee’s clear explanation, we were confident that HSB Renewable Energy Company would be able to meet our needs.
On the day of the installation Josh and Joe arrived at the agreed time, Josh, the electrician, discussed the installation and we were all very clear as to where the battery and inverter would be situated, how the cables would be routed and where the consumer unit would be located. They were considerate and tidy workers.
The battery was commissioned and the app was explained to us. I received an email with the Building Compliance Certificate before they left.
Throughout the whole process everything was handled professionally, proficiently and met our requirements.
Two weeks later: All is working well. When our solar panels make more energy than our home requires the excess solar charges up the battery. We are on economy seven so during these darker, shorter winter days we charge our 9.5 kw battery up at night on cheaper rate electricity and access the cheaper energy from the battery during the day.
We have no hesitation in recommending this company.
