Why We Fit FoxESS Batteries

At HSB Renewables we have fitted hundreds of battery systems across Chester and North Wales. FoxESS has become one of our most-installed brands, and for good reason. It gives homeowners a genuinely capable battery without the premium price tag of the top-end systems.

FoxESS uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, the safest and longest-lasting battery chemistry on the market. The range is modular, so you can start with the capacity you need today and stack more later as your usage grows. For most households it hits the sweet spot between cost and performance.

5 Reasons to Choose FoxESS

1. Strong value. FoxESS delivers capable storage at a lower cost per usable kWh than premium brands, so your payback comes sooner.

2. Safe LFP chemistry. Lithium iron phosphate cells run cooler and last longer than older battery types, with built-in battery management protection.

3. Modular and expandable. Start with the capacity you need and stack more units later as your usage grows.

4. Works with new or existing solar. Whether you are fitting solar and storage together or retrofitting a battery to panels you already have, there is a FoxESS setup to suit.

5. Ten-year warranty. Backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty on the battery, which we register for you at commissioning.

Simple to live with, easy to monitor

A FoxESS system is straightforward to run day to day. The FoxESS Cloud app lets you see your solar generation, battery level and home usage from your phone, so you can watch the savings add up and spot anything unusual early.

Pair it with a smart tariff and the battery charges when electricity is cheapest, then powers your home through the expensive evening peak, which is where most of the saving comes from. We set all of this up and walk you through it at handover.

Is FoxESS right for your home?

We fit several battery brands, and we recommend FoxESS for homeowners who want a capable, reliable system without paying a premium. It suits you well if:

You want the best balance of price and performance rather than the most expensive system on the market
You are adding storage to a new solar install, or retrofitting a battery to existing panels
You want room to grow, since the modular design lets you add capacity later

If your priorities are different, we will tell you straight at the survey and point you to a better fit.

Can I add FoxESS to my existing solar panels?

Yes. Around 40% of the battery systems we fit in North Wales are retrofits to existing solar arrays. There are two ways we do it:

AC coupled, keeping your existing inverter. We add the FoxESS battery alongside your current inverter, such as a Solis, Growatt or SolarEdge. The battery captures the excess energy your panels already produce and stores it for the evening.

Hybrid replacement. Where it makes sense, we replace your existing inverter with a FoxESS hybrid unit for a tidier, fully integrated system. We advise which route suits your setup at the survey.

HSB, Your FoxESS Installer for North Wales and the North West

A battery is only as good as the install behind it. HSB Renewables has fitted renewable systems across the region for over ten years, and we are a Which? Trusted Trader. We handle everything from survey and design through to installation, commissioning and aftercare, and we register your warranty on your behalf.

We fit FoxESS batteries across North Wales, Chester, Cheshire and the Wirral from our base in Shotton, Deeside. Comparing options? See our battery storage page for the other systems we install, or our guide to adding a battery to existing solar.

The HSB Installation Standard

We don't use sub-contractors. We use our own teams.

In-House Roofing Experts

Most solar faults aren't electrical; they are leaks caused by poor fitting. Unlike general electricians, our team includes roofing specialists who ensure your slate or tile integrity is 100% maintained.

"Invisible" Cable Routing

Your battery system is a serious investment, and we won't ruin it with messy plastic trunking. We meticulously plan cable routes through cavities and lofts to keep your home looking immaculate.

Full Setup & Handover

We don't just switch it on and leave. Our engineer will sit down with you, connect the FoxESS Cloud app, and set the charging schedule$3 for your specific tariff before we drive away.

Deeside-Based Support

We are not a national call centre. Our office is in Shotton, Deeside. If you ever have a question or issue, you can pop in or call us directly on 01244 952496.

FoxESS Battery FAQs

Is FoxESS a good battery?
Yes. FoxESS is one of the most widely fitted battery brands in the UK. It uses safe LFP chemistry, comes with a 10-year warranty and offers strong value for money, which is why it makes up a large share of the systems we install.

Can I add a FoxESS battery to my existing solar panels?
Yes. We can retrofit a FoxESS battery to most existing solar PV systems, or supply solar and storage together on a new install.

How big a battery do I need?
For most homes a 5kWh to 10kWh battery covers evening and overnight use. FoxESS is modular, so you can add capacity later. We recommend the right size at your free survey.

Does it work with smart tariffs?
Yes. A FoxESS system can charge when electricity is cheapest on a time-of-use tariff and discharge at peak times to lower your bills.

What warranty do I get?
FoxESS batteries carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty, which we register for you when we commission the system.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lee and his team Josh and Joe did 2 installations for me. 2 x9.5kw GivEnergy battery system to go with my existing solar array. Then a month later a new 3.3kw solar system. From start to finish all three provided a great service. The combined 2 systems are working far better than I ever expected. I can highly reccomend HSB.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. HSB Renewables were amazing. They sorted me out for Solar Panels, a Battery Storage system (GivEnergy) and spoke to me like a human being. They even went the extra mile and gave me some advice combining it all in with Home Assistant.

Absolute top quality.

Thank you Lee and Team.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I asked Lee to install an additional battery at my property, in truth I don’t know why I bothered because I’ve been let down by him before (I guess his promised prices were the Draw!). He eventually managed to attend my property and after a quick survey said he would be in touch. I wasn’t holding my breath (because of his past antics in letting me down), and it’s just as well I didn’t hold my breath because this was back in October (it’s now March) and guess what! He’s not been in touch!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had our 4kw PV system installed 12 years ago and decided that it was time to consider a battery storage system, we contacted two accredited companies and HSB Renewable Energy Company gave an immediate response with a written quote and a home survey.
We wanted to locate the battery outside our house under a canopy and we didn’t want to lose our FIT payment. Following the survey and Lee’s clear explanation, we were confident that HSB Renewable Energy Company would be able to meet our needs.
On the day of the installation Josh and Joe arrived at the agreed time, Josh, the electrician, discussed the installation and we were all very clear as to where the battery and inverter would be situated, how the cables would be routed and where the consumer unit would be located. They were considerate and tidy workers.
The battery was commissioned and the app was explained to us. I received an email with the Building Compliance Certificate before they left.
Throughout the whole process everything was handled professionally, proficiently and met our requirements.
Two weeks later: All is working well. When our solar panels make more energy than our home requires the excess solar charges up the battery. We are on economy seven so during these darker, shorter winter days we charge our 9.5 kw battery up at night on cheaper rate electricity and access the cheaper energy from the battery during the day.
We have no hesitation in recommending this company.
